1 review for Black Mamba 31

I found apa, because I was searching 80# bows , to replace my trusty chill r. I now have alittle over 1000 arrows through my 80# black mamba 31. This is what I have learned.
First the feel of whatever rubber like coating they use over the paint is fantastic.
Second. It’s light, and very slim. It’s profile is much slimmer than my old chill r and feels noticably lighter in hand.
Third, I don’t know what the reviews are about it being stiff to pull . I shoot 75 rock mods on my chill r 70# and it’s no stiffer than that. I have this one at 80# so it does feel heavier than my 70# chill , but if you can pull a 70# bow from a seated position you could most likely pull this at 80.
4th. The cam lock abuility, that virtually ends the need for a bow press and let’s you completely work on the bow in the field. Is past genius. It’s stupid easy to do just put your foot on the string pull up on the handle and slide the included pin in the cam lock holes. Then you can do anything you want to the strings and cables. Best design ever.
5. The valley is very forgiving. But when it goes it goes. It doesn’t ramp up like my chill r did. The valley is very forging and allows a fair bit of lazyness which really help with timing your cams. You can literally just look at your top and bottom limb stops as you barely move the string back and forth. If they move at the same time and the same amount they are in time. That’s awesome and easy to do.
6th. the micro tune is Epic. For everyone who has ever struggled to get there timing right. constantly fighting a tail high or low tare because a half twist top or bottom cam was either to much or to little to get it perfect so you had to push your rest out of centershot to compinsate. This is a Godsend. And so easy to adjust.
7. Cam lean took me a minute to understand with this bow. because a right handed modle the cams are supposed to lean just slight to the left. And I didn’t understand that at first. And I was struggling with a constant tail left tare because of it. But one call to apa and they took the time to explain everything in detail to me on the phone. And actually got a matching bow out in hand so they could explain how much to lean them. That’s service and I appreciate that.
8. Get the right spine. These cams are aggressive. Buy a stiffer spine than you used to use.
9. Look I can’t state this enough. They have a sales rep named jamal. I hope I spelled his name right because that’s how you do customer service. To anyone and everyone in business this is customer service at it’s definition. He literally spent 45 min on the phone with me checking to make sure what they had in stock in matching colors, going over the specs and diffences and helping me make the choice on the black mamba 31. Best choice iv ever made in a bow.
10. What you will notice right away is the mamba 31 holds like a longer bow. I know they say that about all the new bows. Like the v3 and all the others. And it’s true. The new bows in the 31 like the v3 and this one hold like longer bows. I feel every bit as stable, if not more with this lighter shorter bow than I did with my heavier 33″ chill r. That’s not massive length diffence from 33 to 31 but it’s the bows I have the greatest experience with and the ones I can say with certainty.
11. I was shocked. My black mamba is a 80# bow I was prepared for jump and handshock because it’s so small and so light. And 80# after the first shot. It was just smiles. I’m not going to tell you it was dead like a piece of concrete. But it had absolutely no more shock than my 70# chill r and was quieter. At 80# that’s epic.
12. I don’t know if I have covered everything. But basically. If APA had more stores in the US you would see one at every range. These guys are passionate about what they do and the service is second to none.
You can literally take a second set of strings with you pree set up on a elk hunt. You can tune the bow in the field on the fly. They offer a 7 day trial of the bow. I literally can not say enough good about these people and this bow.
